Last May my elderly neighbour was standing at his front door when I got back from the early morning dog walk..."Did you see the curlews arriving?" he asked with a big smile. I had heard them. Today, I heard them again so two weeks earlier.
The bluebells are about to really come out here (the north is behind by at least two weeks) and the daffodils are in their late stages. And today too, I saw my first Greenfinch. I see so many birds but hardly ever Greenfinches.
Overall, it reminded me more however that life comes and goes. My neighbour, the old fella died in the late summer. No more curlew sightings for him. Another neighbour went to A&E unexpectedly yesterday too. One day all is fine...
Nature cares little. Plants that just disappear and you think "blimey, that was a waste of planting last year" suddenly just pop through the soil.
It's always worth enjoying and taking the time to register. That's all you can do really, just appreciate you're alive and that nature is alive. A bit of amateur philosophy for the morning! (Reminder to self to work out how to post photos on this site).
